Documentaries made by world-renowned Japanese director, Naomi Kawase were eclectic, usually depicting everyday life with candor and sincerity. Her images were delicate and heart-warming, and instantly recognisable with her “signature”. The two documentaries chosen this time were made with a time span of almost 20 years in between and the protagonist of both works was her “Grandma”. Director Naomi Kawase will be present for audience discussion after the screening.
