ifva+ Nov: Experimental Films - Aesthetics and Politics in Derivative Work
Curator and Host: Ip Yuk Yiu (Media Artist)
Experimental films are anti-mainstream cinema, and seek to subvert conventional filmic aesthetics in order to construct new ideas within certain historical, political, economical and cultural contexts. One of the sub-genres of experimental films utilizes found footage and juxtaposes them against one another in order to generate new meanings. This artistic practice is a lesson in creating derivative works.
Date: 15/11/2012 (Thu)
Time: 7:30pm
Speaker: Chow Chun Fai (Visual Artist)
